What is Enamel？
General Speaking, we call it Enamel, and that’s English name. And it’s Emaille in Deutschland, and 琺瑯（ほうろう）in Japanese. And in order for you to understand it better, you can regard it as a surface treatment process, which is the same as painting, powder coating or electroplating. However, it’s very easy for people to confuse Enamel Paint with Enamel in the concept understanding. In fact, Enamel Paint is not Enamel. Simply speaking, the former is just a kind organic paint. Therefore, sometimes we also called Enamel as Vitreous Enamel, Porcelain Enamel and Industry Porcelain Enamel. According to the definition of Enamel done by American ASTM(American Society for Testing and Material), it’s by heating and melting that a porcelain or vitreous inorganic coating applies to the metal surfaces. And in terms of the enamel material and actual production process, Enamel can be described as follows: a vitreous inorganic material is coated on the metal substrate, then by firing at high temperature, so that those two materials are fused into a new composite material with advantages of the smooth surface, the rich colors, easy to clean, no pollution to the environment, corrosion-resistant, high-temperature-resistant, wear-resistant and weather resistance.
